Lansing, MI -
The Powers Catholic Girl’s varsity basketball team took to the road for the 8th time in 9 games and defeated a 6-4 Lansing Waverly team 63-46. Behind good defense and free throw shooting the Chargers held the host Warriors to 19 second half points while scoring 35.
“I thought our team played great team basketball tonight. We got back to the basics for us defensively and that got our transition game going. It was great to see them playing together. We’ve had a tough stretch of games but it’s all been for the better.” - Coach Trevithick
Leading the Chargers was Junior Paige Ringwelski with a monster 20 point, 12 rebound performance; while Junior Kendyl Smith added 21 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Freshmen Evah Smith finished with 15 points and 9 rebounds in just her 9th start of her young career.
The Chargers return to Goggins Fieldhouse to take on the SVL Challengers Saginaw United in a conference showdown. JV tips off at 5:30pm while Varsity slotted to start at 7:00pm.
