Goggins Fieldhouse -

On Military Appreciation Night in Goggins Fieldhouse the Powers Catholic Girls’ Basketball team hosted SVL rival the Cardinals of Davison High School.  The game was competitive as records are discarded and the gym was packed to see a highly anticipated competition.

The Chargers led the opening quarter by the score of 13-10 but built the lead to as many as 13 until Davison hit a wing 3 right before half to make the halftime score 31-21.  After halftime the Chargers left no doubt using a 20-0 run between the 3-4th quarters to push the lead to as high as 35.  The final score was favorable for the Chargers 71-41, moving the Chargers record to 9-3 on the season.

“Tonight was a great night for our program as we got to honor our veterans that are connected and tied to our program.  It was great to have Davison participate in this game with us as well so we could celebrate the veterans from all over the Genesee County area.” - Coach Trevithick

In the contest the Chargers transition game played a huge role leading to 26 fast break points led by Juniors Kendyl Smith with 27 points and Paige Ringwelski adding 18 points.  Freshmen Evah Smith finished again with a double double 10 points and 10 rebounds.

“I thought our kids really bought in defensively and that led to some easy buckets in transition. We’ve really been settling in nicely the last couple of games defensively and the girls have really bought in.  Proud of our effort and our determination tonight and it’s fun to watch our kids play as hard as they did”. - Coach Trevithick

The Chargers host the Chargers of Midland Dow on Wednesday at 7:00pm in a rescheduled contest.
