Grand Blanc, MI -

On a night that showed a battle of one loss SVL rivals, the Chargers of Powers Catholic took control and never let up in a resounding defeat of the host Bobcats 78-43.  The Chargers were dominating from all aspects of the game especially defensively holding Grand Blanc to 23% shooting from the field.

Freshmen Evah Smith led the Chargers with 21 points and 10 rebounds along with 5 assists.  Juniors Paige Ringwelski added 20 points of her own along with Kendyl Smith filling the stat sheet with 8 points, 11 assists and 9 rebounds.  Makayla Stewart returned to the Charger lineup contributing 3 made 3FG along with Giselle Wolschleger adding a career high of 11 points on 3 made 3FG.

“It was such a great overall team win tonight.  Our girls really executed a game plan tonight and we knew that Grand Blanc was capable of controlling the game if we let them, but tonight our girls were determined to stay the course.” - Coach Trevithick

The Chargers assisted on 24 of the 29 made FGs.  As a team Coach Trevithick believes they are just starting to figure out their potential.

“As a group they have been really locking in this past few weeks defensively and buying into our game plans.  You can see their confidence growing and I really believe that our best basketball is in front of us.”  Trevithick stated.

The Chargers are averaging over 73 points per game in conference play so far and a lot of that is attributed to their ability to transition off of defensive stops.

“The girls are really pushing the tempo right now and we are finding ways to capitalize on that.  Kendyl is in control of the ball and our posts are doing a great job of getting out and running the floor hard.  Our wings are finding their spots and knocking down big shots for us.  It’s a fun brand of basketball to play for sure.”  - Coach Trevithick

The Chargers return to action on Friday evening as they begin a 3-game road trip to contend with the upcoming North Division foes, Bay City Western.  Tip off is scheduled for 7:00pm with JV tipping at 5:30pm.
