The Chargers Girls Basketball team took to the road in the first of three games against the SVL opponents from the North to take on Bay City Western.  The Chargers were down early in the contest 9-2 but settled in and used an 18-0 run to deliver a 29-14 halftime lead following a half court shot by Western.  The Chargers would finish out the night with a big third quarter effort delivering a 66-42 road victory.

ā€œIā€™m just proud of how our girls played tonight.  It took a team effort to stay locked in and focused and being on the road is hard, but especially when you are in this conference.  Coach Snover did a nice job getting his kids prepared to compete and it was a fun game but ultimately I think our size and defense gave them problems.  We are fortunate to get the road win tonight.ā€ - Coach Trevithick

The Chargers were paced by another double double performance by freshman Evah Smith finishing with 22 points and 15 rebounds.  While Junior Kendyl Smith controlled the tempo once again with 16 points and 5 assists.  The Chargers picked up huge points from Sophomore Bella Harley and Giselle Wolschleger and Junior Haleena Abuieta.

Overall the Chargers are 12-3 and looking to improve as they now head into a battle for first place in the conference on the line with a Tuesday match up with the Midland Chemics (14-1 , 7-0).  Game is slotted for tip off at 7:00pm with the JV tipping of prior to at 5:30pm.
