Flushing, MI -
On a night where the rivalry of the old Big Nine days was supposed to be a battle of two former heavyweight conference foes, the Chargers of Powers Catholic traveled to the host Raiders for a Tuesday night non-conference matchup. With the rivalry being in Flushing’s favor the last four match ups (3-1) the Chargers looked to earn a back to back win going into Tuesday.
The Chargers took care of business early on against a battered and depleted Flushing team earning a victory of 56-17. Heading into the half the Chargers led 31-5 keeping the Raiders from getting any rhythm offensively.
“I’m really glad we got a chance to compete tonight and hats off to Steve and his kids. They’re pretty banged up right now and then to have the flu hit them it’s a rough time for them. Our girls were able to execute and get things we needed to work on done. It was a good game for us to continue to work on getting better.” - Coach Trevithick
The Chargers were led in scoring by Evah Smith (17 points), Kendyl Smith (16 points) and Paige Ringwelski (10 points).
Powers returns to action on Friday against Armada with an early 5:30pm tip off with JV tipping at 4:00pm. This will be the regular season finale for both squads.
