Powers Baseball Season Opener One for the Ages
For the first time in Charger Baseball history, the team played a game in Winter. The March
19 th contest against Yale took place at Oakland University’s scenic field. Neither team scored
until Powers put together back-to-back three-run run rallies in the 3 rd and 4 th innings. The
Chargers tacked on a run in the 6 th to make the final score 7-0. Seniors Kaden Martel (3 hits and
2 RBI’s) and Nathan Gebhardt (2 hits and 2 RBI’s) led the offense. Chase Newcombe delivered
an RBI double.
Powers pitching was dominant. Starter Keegan Kohloff went four inning, striking out seven,
and limiting Yale to an infield hit to pick up the win. Three more hurlers followed, Drew
Simmons, Michael Borg, and Santino Evely, each threw a hitless inning, and combined for six
more strikeouts to finish the shutout victory.
Powers (1-0) is next in action at Kearsley on March 26th .
