Mount Pleasant, 4/9

The Chargers kicked off their season with a hard-fought league opener against the Mount Pleasant Oilers. Both teams came out strong, and thanks to a phenomenal performance by goalie Izzy Solano, the scoreboard stayed locked at 0-0 through halftime. Izzy was absolutely lights-out in net, making save after save to keep the Chargers in the fight against a relentless Oilers offense.

With 12 minutes left in the second half, senior Grace Murphy broke through to give the Chargers a 1-0 lead. But despite Izzy’s incredible efforts in goal, including several key saves, the Oilers managed to sneak one in with just 90 seconds left, ending the game in a 1-1 tie.

Izzy Solano’s outstanding performance was the backbone of the Chargers’ defense—she was a true difference-maker in an intense season opener.
