Timely Hitting, Clutch Relief Pitching Propels Powers to Sweep of Davison
The Chargers jumped to a 3-0 lead
in the second, only to see the Cards tie it in the bottom of the fourth. In the top of the fifth, Kaden Martel delivered a two-out, two-strike triple driving in three in a bases loaded situation. The blast capped a four-run inning for 7-3 lead.
Davison countered with three runs in the bottom of the frame to make it 7-6. Starter Keagen Kohlhoff pitched 4.1 innings striking out 8 while allowing three hits. Enter Aidan Corcoran who delivered 2.2 innings of hitless relief to earn the save.
Davison took a 2-0 lead into the top of the third but the Chargers erupted for five, highlighted by Kohlhoff’s bases loaded triple. Eli Sturgess smacked a pair hits and Santino Evely pitched 2.1 innings of one-run relief to collect the save in support of starter Drew Simmons, winning pitcher.
The 12-8 (overall) Chargers travel to Midland on Thursday for an SVL match-up with the always-tough Chemics.
