Powers Rallies in 7th to Gain Split at Midland
There was one Charger highlight in game one: Eli Sturgess nailed a solid single—the lone hit versus Midland starter, Faccio, who spun a shutout 6-0 gem for the Chemics.
Midland held a 4-2 lead heading into the top of the 7th but the Chargers erupted for five runs, and Santino Evely slammed the door in the bottom of the inning inducing a Sturgess to Corcoran to Gebhardt game-ending double play for a stunning 7-4 win. It’s a bit of a blur, but the inning was fueled by walks, a hit batter, an RBI single by Kaden Martel to give Powers a 5-4 lead. Later Mateo Evans’ clutch two-out single provided a pair of insurance runs.
Powers travels to Brandon Middle School on Saturday for 11am match up against Montrose for the opening game of two-game invitational.
The Chargers sit 13-9 overall
(9-6 in the SVL). Onward.
