Women’s Track Finishes as Regional Runner up
The women’s track team finished second to Frankenmuth at the 2025 Regional Championships. The Chargers scored a total of 80 points.
The women’s team qualified 3 relays and a strong group of individuals for the State finals on May 31 at Hamilton High School. In order to qualify for the state meet at regional the top 2 finishers in each event advance along with any number of athletes who run the time standard for their given event. Starting in 2025 athletes could qualify for the state finals by achieving a more difficult ‘Early Qualifying Standard’.
The women’s team started out the day with an impressive showing in the field events where Olivia Hamilton finished with first place in the pole vault. Elise Teahen finished 4th in the long jump. Elle Doherty finished with a 5 way tied for 7th in the high jump and Evah Smith finished 3rd in the shot put. Smith’s effort hit the qualifying standard for the state meet.
On the track the 3200 meter relay team snagged a spot in the state finals for the first time since 2022 with a second place finish. The team consisted of Seniors Grace Evanoff and Grace Murphy along with Victoria Bouchey and Lillian Potochny.
Olivia Hamilton secured her second spot in the state finals with a 3rd place finish in the high hurdles. Her personal record time of 16.17 was well under the state qualifying standard. This moves Hamilton up to 5th all time. Freshman Caitlin Campbell just missed the finals with a 9th place finish.
The 800 meter relay team of Fhalinn Samuels, Madison Smith, Elise Teahen and Michaela Wolosuk finished 2nd to earn a place in state finals with a time of 1:49.49. This performance is also the 10th best time in school history
The duo of Grace Evanoff and Milla Villarell finished 8th and 10th in the 1600 meter run.
The 400 meter relay team of Olivia Hamilton, Madison Smith, Elise Teahen and Michaela Wolosuk took the regional championship with a time of 50.98. This is the first regional title for a Powers women’s 4 by 100 relay since 1998!
Victoria Bouchey and Kendall Corcoran picked up 6th and 7th in the 400 meter run.
In the 300 meter hurdles Senior Sara Campbell exorcised 2 years of near misses by running a personal record time of 48.97 and qualified for the state championships individually.
Michaela Wolosuk continued her big day with a 3rd place finish in the 200 meter dash with a personal best time of 27.11. This moves her up to 4th all time. Wolosuk was the workhorse for the Chargers as she anchored 3 relay teams and battled through the 200 meter preliminary round and on to the finals.
Grace Murphy and Milla Villarell battled to 7th and 8th place finished in the 3200 meter run while both running personal record times.
In the 1600 meter relay the team of Madison Smith, Elise Teahen, Sara Campbell and Michaela Wolosuk battled back and forth over the race and finished 3rd with a season best time of 4:20.28.
