Records Fall as Track Heads into the State Meet
The mens and women’s track teams competed at the Post A PR meet hosted by Linden high school on Thursday the 22nd.
Cold and windy conditions made it difficult to achieve fast times in the sprints but the Chargers came away with more than their share of top finishes. Grant Roberts led the Chargers with first place finishes in the 100 and 400 meter dashes. Robert’s time of 50.68 moved him up to 4th all time for the Chargers. Lennoz Nawswell was a winner in the 1600 and Quentin Cokley won the 300 meter hurdles.
On the women’s side Lily Potochny took first in the 800 and Mila Villarreal claimed first in the 3200.
A trio of Chargers competed at Distance Night Under the Lights at Houseman field in Grand Rapids. Junior Caleb Carignan ran a personal best 1600 meter time of 4:38.19.
In the 3200 Freshman Lennox Naswell ran a personal best time of 9:35.31. This makes Naswell the #8 performer in school history in this event.
Junior Bryce Gross broke the school records with a time of 9:18.15. The prior school record was held by Chander Lorf who ran a time of 9:19.19 at the 2018 State Finals.
In the final stretch before the state finals the 400 and 800 meter relays will head down the Dexter for the Larry Steeb Meet of Champions and the remainder of the team will compete at the Badar Classic at Carman-Ainsworth Jr High.
