The Chargers fell 6-2 to Goodrich in the semifinals of the Flint Tournament. Chase Newcomb led the offense with a pair of singles. On Wednesday, the team traveled to Standish-Sterling and dropped the opener 4-1 despite Aiden Olah’s two-hit game. Donovan Moreno earned a “Charlie Hustle” award by slamming into a chain link fence and later a teammate in full pursuit of a fly ball. Fortunately, Donovan survived to tell the story!
Eli Sturgess blasted a double in the nightcap and sprinted home on a wild pitch, alertly beating the tardy pitcher covering home plate. The 1-0 lead held until the top of the fifth when Olah led off with a single and advanced to second on a wild pitch. After a Logan Gowan grounder to second, Olah advanced to third. Then, the umpires said, “We didn’t see the last pitch” and thus called it.
Our Chargers are assigned to a twelve noon matchup with Clio in the District semifinals on Saturday at Kearsley. Get tickets via GoFan.
