The Powers Catholic Varsity Girl’s Basketball traveled to Saginaw Heritage to take on the Hawks in a SVL matchup. The Chargers started off slow and ultimately couldn’t make a comeback as they fell 47-31 dropping their record to 14-6 overall and 7-3 in conference.
“I’m proud of our kids effort and resiliency in the second half but we just dug ourselves too deep of a hole but we will learn from this game as we have from all of our opponents. I believe this will serve us well come March.” - Coach Trevithick
The Chargers used a balanced scoring attack to win the second half 24-17 but it wasn’t enough overall. Senior Alexcis Parker scored 9 while Freshman Paige Ringwelski and Junior Aerika Pertler scored 6 a piece.
“I thought Aerika did an incredible job for us tonight, she showed patience and executed the game plan and saw great results from it. There’s a comfort level with our post group right now that they will find a way to get the job done. Overall we need to get to the free throw line more, but tonight it wasn’t our night.” - Coach Trevithick
The Chargers return to action on Tuesday against Carmen - Ainsworth in the regular season home finale at Goggins Fieldhouse. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7:00pm.
