Girls' Basketball recognized at all-league meeting

he SVL Girls’ Basketball Coaches Meeting took place this Friday for all league nominations and awards.  The Girls’ Varsity Basketball team finished in a tie for 4th place (Saginaw Heritage) in the SVL at 8-4.  After a great regular season and conference play the Chargers were able to get 5 players selected to the all-league teams.

Senior Alexcis Parker was voted to 1st team All-Saginaw Valley Conference by the SVL Coaches.  Parker was second in the league in scoring at 18.0 points per game, 6th in rebounding with 9.5 rebounds per game and 1st in steals with 4.8 steals per game.

Senior Makenna Pobocik was voted 2nd team All-Saginaw Valley Conference by the SVL Coaches.  Pobocik was instrumental in the improvement in standings and play for the Chargers this season, getting recognized by the coaches as one of the top players in the league as a recognition for that influence on the Chargers girls’ varsity team.

Other Charger Girl Basketball Players that were named to honorable mention all-saginaw valley were Juniors Ali Anderson and Grace Cameron along with Freshman Paige Ringwelski.

“I’m so incredibly proud of these individual performances this season but we really did this as a group and team.  They discussed how we wanted to play and how we wanted to go about our business and they were recognized for that by our peers and other programs in the league.  I’m so happy for our Seniors Alexcis and Makenna as they truly have stepped up on the court for us in so many ways and to get recognized and make 1st and 2nd team in this league is incredible.  They both have been able to see the hard work pay off this season and I’m so happy for them.  To see how we went about our business this year and see how we were able to finish 8-4 in the league our highest finish since 2015, it says a lot about this group.  So to get others nominated and selected for honorable mention is a true testament to this group's growth this season.  It’s really cool to see.” - Coach Trevithick

The remaining members of the SVL All-Conference teams will be released later this week.
