The Powers Catholic Girl’s Basketball team hosted Lake Fenton in the semi-final of the MHSAA District tournament. The Chargers played with vigor and effort but unfortunately were overpowered by the Blue Devils. The Chargers were led in scoring by Senior Makenna Pobocik with 11 points.
“Tonight we just met an opponent that played confident and loose and we unfortunately couldn’t get them uncomfortable enough to take advantage. Their players are opportunistic and turned our mistakes into points and for us that was too much to overcome.” - Coach Trevithick
Powers finishes the season at 15-8 overall and had a lot of highlighted moments throughout the year. For Coach Trevithick this is the beginning of what is the growth and foundation for this program.
“Tonight doesn’t take away anything that we’ve done all year. Our kids have played the tails off and competed to make everyone at Powers proud that they are wearing that name on their jersey. I am so incredibly proud of our group and to our seniors, they have spent a lot of time and a ton of energy laying a foundation for us to continue to build this program to a championship level. We didn’t get there this year but we will continue to put the work in and find a way to get the job done in the future. I can’t be more proud of this group and their hard work. So many good things to be excited about and to celebrate this season.” - Coach Trevithick
The Chargers will finish up the season on March 19 with their banquet as they celebrate the 2022-2023 season.
“Thanks to all of our parents, alumni, faculty and staff for their unwavering support this season. We hope that we have made you all proud to be a part of this journey with us and we look forward to stepping back onto the court next season! Go Chargers!” - Coach Trevithick
