Fischer Hendershot tossed four innings of one-hit ball with seven strikeouts before handing the ball to Zander Asbridge who delivered a scoreless fifth, completing a 14-0 shutout of visiting Yale.
The offense matched the pitching by having a big seven-run first inning while smacking 16 total hits in the game. Hendershot drilled a pair of hits and Isaac Sturgess, Grant Garman, Connor Kelly, Jack Dawley, and Luke Dupuis joined him by having multi-hit games. Everyone got in and everyone produced: a great day overall.
The Chargers play next this weekend in the Champions Tournament. Powers opens 3:45pm on Friday vs. Macomb Dakota @ Mott CC field; 6:30pm vs. Bay City Western @ Mott CC field. Then at 11:00am on Saturday @ Broome Park. Then, Memorial Day Monday, 7pm at Broome Park, the Chargers will square off against Goodrich in the Tom Cole Greater Flint Invitational. Let’s go!!!
