Powers Softball Strikes Like Lightning

 

Powers Catholic High School's varsity softball team has kicked off their season in a thrilling fashion, winning three out of their four opening games. The team showed great potential and determination on the field, with notable performances from several players.

In their very first varsity game, sophomore Makayla Stewart left a strong impression by hitting an inside the park home run. Her teammate, sophomore pitcher Sara Fox, also shone bright by hitting a perfect 2 for 2 at the plate and striking out ten from the mound. However, the team suffered a 4-2 loss to Ann Arbor Pioneer in the opening game.

Determined to bounce back, Powers Catholic High School's team displayed their skills in game two, with junior Bella Dixon delivering an impressive performance by going 4 for 4 at the plate. Freshman pitcher Lexi Glady also played an important role by hitting 2 for 4 and striking out eight. The team fought hard and managed to secure a 12-2 mercy victory over Ann Arbor Pioneer.

The team then traveled to Saginaw Heritage, where they dominated their opponents in two thrilling games. In game one, Powers Catholic High School impressed with a whopping 21 hits, with Dixon delivering another perfect 5 for 5 performance at the plate. Lizzy Teuber and Makayla Stewart also had an outstanding game, hitting 3 for 5. Although the team was initially trailing 4-1, they made a tremendous comeback to secure a 15-10 win.

In game two against Saginaw Heritage, Powers Catholic High School took an early 6-0 lead but saw their opponents make a comeback, scoring eight runs in the next inning. Despite the setback, the team remained consistent and scored in every inning, securing a narrow 9-8 victory in the shortened five-inning game. Catcher Anna Photiou made a significant contribution with a big triple and a 2 for 3 performance at the plate. Katie Sabolish and Lexi Glady also impressed with their hot bats, each hitting 2 for 3.

Overall, the Powers Catholic High School varsity softball team has had a strong start to their season, showcasing their potential and resilience on the field. With such talented players on their roster, they are sure to keep their fans entertained with their future performances.
