In a marathon day of fantastic tennis at the Haslett regional on Thursday, Powers Catholic girls varsity qualified to compete in the Michigan State Championship Tournament for the first time in six years. While few expected much of a showing from PCAT tennis in the region consisting of predominantly Lansing area schools, the Lady Chargers proved from the start that they were a team that should not be overlooked. Paced by regional champions Elli LaFay at 4 singles, Lauren Start and Loly Yapchai at 3 doubles and runner up Lauren Harrold at 2 singles, it was truly a team effort with every flight winning key matches contributing this monumental achievement for the program.
Best of luck to the team as they travel to the University of Michigan on June 2 for States. The Powers Catholic family is so proud of these hard working young ladies.
