Chargers Hold On Against Swartz Creek

In Flint Powers Men’s Lacrosse season opener the Chargers were able to run out the final  minutes and hold on to the victory against Swartz Creek in a 11-10 Victory. Two Time All  Conference Attackman Charlie Fritz led the Chargers performers tailing 2 Goals, 2 Assists for 4  Points and 3 ground balls. Peter Huey led all Chargers players with 5 ground balls while also  notching a goal and an assist.

When asked about his first regular season game with the Powers Chargers’ program first year  JV Head Coach and Varsity Defensive Coordinator Forrest Baker responded “Tonight was my  first official game coaching here with Powers. It was great to see a competition in which the  boys overcame adversity and pulled out the win. As an alumnus of Kettering University, it was  also great to see the community come together to share their passion for lacrosse at historic  Atwood Stadium. We have a lot of work to put in at all levels, but I see a promising season  ahead for this group.”

Powers Catholic found themselves in a slug fest with a strong and athletic Swartz Creek  program in their first regular season match up of 2023. The Chargers took an early lead but the  game remained a back and fourth battle till the final horn. The promising rematch of these  same two teams is set for April 4th.

“Our young men took a step forward today. We went head to head with a strong and promising  program led by Coach Cook at Swartz Creek. Coach Cook and his staff did an awesome job of  having their players ready for the start of the 2023 season. They faced off well, had good goalie  play and were difficult to defend on offense. We are looking forward to the challenge of

traveling to Creek in the first game back from Spring Break. I am proud of our young group of  guys who battled a tough and resilient team, but the true test is learning lessons from your  victories and defeats. Winners choose to learn from both outcomes, we will need that type of  approach in our preparation for our second leg of a back to back against Coach Cook and the  Dragons.” Commented Coach Schramm

Chargers JV program kicks off their 2023 season in a match up against Swartz Creek on April  4th at Swartz Creek. Come Support your Chargers, JV Facesoff at 4:30pm and Varsity at 6pm.
