The Powers Catholic Girls Swim Team had a strong finish to a successful season at the MHSAA Division 3 State Finals. The Chargers had all three relays qualified along with 3 individual events that competed at Eastern Michigan University last week. Congratulations to Abby Custack on her All-State performance and the 2024 State Team on a job well done!

Powers Dominates at SVL Championship Meet

Congratulations to the Powers Girls Varsity Swim and Dive Team for an extraordinary performance at the Saginaw Valley League Championship Meet this weekend! Top 8 athletes in each individual and relay event made podium appearances, including Abby Custack (SVL Champion in 200 Freestyle and 2nd Place in 500 Freestyle), Sara Piper (4th Place in 200 Individual Medley and 6th Place in 100 Backstroke), and Loly Yapchai (6th Place in 100 Butterfly). The team of Sara Piper, Maggie Roche, Loly Yapchai, and Abby Custack finished in 4th place in the 200 Medley Relay; Kennedi Dawkins, Sara Campbell, Meredith Wilkins, and Lily Potochny finished 7th in the 200 Freestyle Relay; and Sara Piper, Loly Yapchai, Kennedi Dawkins, and Abby Custack finished 3rd in the 400 Freestyle Relay. Powers Varsity Coach, Chase Harvey, was also awarded with SVL Coach of the Year!!
All three relay teams have qualified to compete at the MHSAA Division 3 State Meet at Eastern Michigan University with Abby Custack and Sara Piper qualifying to compete in their individual events.

Special congratulations to the swimmers who qualified for the Division 3 State Championship Meet last weekend: Sophomore, Sara Piper (200 Individual Medley) and the 200 Freestyle Relay Team of Abby Custack (Junior), Loly Yapchai (Junior), Sara Piper (Sophomore), and Kennedi Dawkins (Sophomore)!
Girls varsity swim traveled to Lapeer on Thursday to participate in a tri-meet against Lapeer and Bay City Central. The girls competed hard with first place finishes in 100 butterfly (Abby Custack),200 medley relay (Abby Custack, Maggie Roche, Sara Campbell, and Kennedi Dawkins), and 200 freestyle relay (Lily Potochny, Sara Campbell, Kennedi Dawkins, and Abby Custack). Powers girls finished second in 200 freestyle (Lily Potochny), 50 freestyle (Meredith Wilkins), 100 freestyle (Sara Campbell), 500 freestyle (Maggie Roche), 100 backstroke (Alyson Chupa), 100 breaststroke (Lily Potochny), 200 freestyle relay (Catie Campbell, Samantha Nanney, Alyson Chupa, and Meredith Wilkins), and 400 freestyle relay (Maggie Roche, Alyson Chupa, Meredith Wilkins, and Lily Potochny). Way to go!
PCHS Swim Takes 4th Genesee County Invitational

Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Swim Team who finished 4th among 11 teams at the Genesee County Invitational this weekend. Notable individual performances included 200 Free (Abby Custack – 1st Place; Alyson Chupa - 15th Place); 200 Individual Medley (Sara Piper - 7th Place; Lily Potochny - 14th Place; Maggie Roche - 15th Place); 50 Freestyle (Loly Yapchai – 7th Place; Kennedi Dawkins – 8th Place); 100 Butterfly (Loly Yapchai – 5th Place; Sara Piper – 6th Place; Paige Scully – 15th Place); 100 Freestyle (Abby Custack – 1st Place; Kennedi Dawkins – 12th Place); and 100 Breaststroke (Maggie Roche – 7th Place, Sara Campbell – 8th Place; Elli LaFay – 12th Place). The 200 Medley Relay team of Abby Custack, Maggie Roche, Sara Piper, and Loly Yapchai finished 4th; the 200 Freestyle Relay team of Loly Yapchai, Sara Piper, Kennedi Dawkins, and Abby Custack finished 3rd: and the 400 Relay team of Lily Potochny, Alyson Chupa, Meredith Wilkins, and Kennedi Dawkins finished 4th. MERCY QUAD MEET RESULTS

Girls varsity swim traveled to Waterford on Saturday to participate in the Mercy Quad Meet against
Farmington Hills Mercy, Pontiac Notre Dame Prep, and Ann Arbor Sky Line High Schools. The girls
competed hard with notable performances from Seniors Maggie Roche (5 th in 100 Breast) and Sara
Campbell (8 th in 200 Free); Juniors Abby Custack (4 th in 100 Free and 6 th in 200 Free) and Loly Yapchai (6 th
in 50 Free and 7 th in 100 Fly); and Sophomore Sara Piper (8 th in 200 Individual Medley). The girls took 4 th
place in both the 200 Medley Relay (Sara Piper, Maggie Roche, Loly Yapchai, and Kennedi Dawkins) and
200 Free Relay (Sara Piper, Loly Yapchai, Sara Campbell, and Abby Custack). Special congratulations to
Abby Custack who qualified for the Division 3 State Championship Meet in 200 Free and 100 Free!
The Powers Catholic Girls Swim & Dive Begin the Season 2-2!

The girls swim team has been off to a hot start this season while taking on some tough opponents. On Tuesday (9/10) the team took on Fenton and Walled Lake Northern and would come away with a narrow 93-90 victory over Walled Lake while falling to Fenton 132-51. Highlights of the meet include 200 Medley Relay (Piper, Roche, Yapchai, Custack) 2nd place - 200 IM (Piper) 3rd place - 50 Freestyle (Yapchai) 3rd place - 100 Freestyle (Custack) 2nd place - 200 Freestyle Relay (Custack, Piper, Campbell, Dawkins) 2nd place – 100 Backstroke (Custack) 3rd place – Breaststroke (Roche) 3rd place.
The girls followed up a strong performance with an even stronger one when they took on SVL opponents Grand Blanc and Mt. Pleasant on Thursday (9/12). The team would go on to defeat Mt. Pleasant 114-55 and lost to Grand Blanc 124-56. Highlights for this meet include 200 Medley Relay (Custack, Roche, Piper, Yapchai)2nd place - 200 IM (Custack) 3rd place - 50 Freestyle (Piper) 3rd place – 100 Butterfly (Piper) 2nd place / (Potochny) 3rd place – 500 Freestyle (Custack) 1st place – 200 Freestyle Relay (Roche, Potochny, Lafay, Campbell) 2nd place – 400 Freestyle Relay (Yapchai, Piper, Dawkins, Custack) 2nd place.
The girls swim and dive team look to continue this success on Saturday with another tough match up against Ann Arbor Skyline, Mercy, and Notre Dame Prep!
