Powers Hot Shooting Leads to a Win

Powers used a season high point total to knock off Plymouth Christian in Tuesday night action 95-55. 6 Powers players scored in double figures on the night, led by Javontae Ross with 21 points and 9 assists. Andrew Caldwell added 19 points. Breckin Cicalo scored 12 points. James Dean scored 11 points and Jesse Cull and Danny Wolak each scored 10 points a piece. Wolak added 6 rebounds. The Chargers made 17 3s on the night. The next game will be Friday night at Groves high school at 5:00 vs. Riverview Gabriel Richard.
Powers Outlasts Flushing

Powers Catholic defeated an upset minded Flushing team 69-59 on Tuesday night action. Flushing converted on 9 first half 3 point shots to take a 40-31 halftime lead. It was the first time Powers had trailed at halftime. The Powers defense changed the tone in the 2nd half cutting the lead to 2 entering the 4th quarter. Powers then held Flushing to only 7 4th quarter points and the Chargers were able to close out the game. Jess Cull led the Chargers with 17 points and 13 rebounds. He was one of 4 players to tally double figures on the night. Andrew Caldwell added 16 points, Dempsey Cull 11 points and 6 rebounds and Danny Wolak had 10 points. The Chargers play at home Friday vs. Notre Dame Prep.
Powers Defeats Goodrich 81-57

Powers Catholic defeated a tough Goodrich at the Moneyball Classic 81-57. The Chargers didn't shoot their best in the 1st quarter but a 24 point 2nd quarter gave them a 40-17 halftime lead. The defensive effort from the team was great all night. Jess Cull led the Chargers with 20 points and 5 rebounds. He was one of 4 players to tally double figures on the night. Breckin Cicalo added 17 points off the bench and was a huge spark plug for the team. Dempsey Cull added a double double with 14 points and 10 rebounds and Danny Wolak had 13 points and 5 assists. The Chargers play at home Tuesday vs. Flushing.
Powers Wins Home Opener 58-35

Powers Catholic defeated Chesaning Tuesday night by a score of 58-35. The Chargers set the tone defensively, holding Chesaning to 4 points in the first quarter. Jesse Cull led the Chargers with 18 points and 7 rebounds. He was one of 4 starters to tally double figures on the night. Danny Wolak added 12 points and Eli Sturgess 9 points. Powers travels to Imlay City to take on Goodrich at 5pm in the Moneyball Classic Saturday.

Powers Catholic defeated a tough Imlay City in the first game of the year at Saginaw Valley 64-58. The Chargers started hot with a 25 point 1st quarter and were able to hold the lead for the entire game. Andrew Caldwell led the Chargers with 16 points and 6 rebounds. He was one of 4 starters to tally double figures on the night. Eli Sturgess had his first career double double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Dempsey Cull added 13 points and 7 assists and Danny Wolak 10 points and 5 assists. Jesse Cull had 8 points. The Chargers play their home opener Tuesday night vs. Chesaning. The 2024 Powers State Championship baseball team will be honored at half time.
