Last night- Powers Girls Varsity Lacrosse Secures Fourth Straight Win with Dominant PerformanceThe Powers Catholic Girls Varsity Lacrosse team continued their winning streak, notching their fourth consecutive victory with an impressive 19–7 win over Davison.Offensively, the Chargers were unstoppable, led by standout performances from Zandria Grossi and Lauren Lavoie, who each netted 6 goals. Chaeli Daclison added 4 goals of her own, while Ava Britton, Daniela Mersino, and Ellie Brooks also contributed to the scoring effort.Anna Evanoff was a key playmaker, dishing out 5 assists and controlling the tempo at the faceoff X. Powers Swept by GB The Chargers struggled against dominant Grand Blanc pitching in 10-0, 10-0 losses. Only Eli Sturgess recorded hits for Powers: a single in the opener, a triple in the nightcap. Powers fall to 17-11 overall. For now, the next game is at home next Wednesday to celebrate Senior Day. The Chargers will also play on Friday, May 23rd at home to make up a single game vs. Midland Dow. The game has SVL Championship implications for Dow.

Powers Girls Varsity Lacrosse Extends Winning Streak to Three with 19–10 Victory Over Midland Dow.The Powers Catholic girls varsity lacrosse team continued their impressive run, securing their third consecutive win by defeating Midland Dow 19–10.Junior Zandria Grossi led the charge with an outstanding performance, scoring 6 goals and adding 2 assists. Lauren Lavoie and Chaeli Daclison each netted 5 goals, with Daclison also contributing 2 assists. Anna Evanoff was dominant on the draw, winning 9 ground balls and tallying 2 goals and 2 assists of her own. Senior, Lillian Smith stood strong on defense with four ground balls and two forced turnovers. In goal, Sophie Belott stood strong, making 10 saves to help seal the victory.

Powers Varsity golf team competed today (5/13) at the 3rd of 4 SVL Tournaments held at The Sawmill GC in Saginaw. Powers finished 5th with a seasons best score of 319. Grand Blanc HS won the event with a score of 303. Powers sophomore Cam Stilson was co- medalist along with William Lachana of Davison with scores of 71. Jack Johnson chipped in a score of 79 for Powers. Next up for the Chargers is the OLSM Invitational next Monday at Spring Meadows CC in Linden followed by the SVL Championships at the Fortress in Frankenmuth on Wednesday to mark the end of regular season play.

Martel and Borg Provide 2nd Game Spark to Ensure Baseball Sweep Kaden Martel drove in the tying and winning runs in the top of the 5th and Michael Borg completed three shutout innings of one-hit relief in 4-3 comeback win at Bay City Central. The Wolves jumped to a 3-0 lead after two and nightcap was called after five innings due to the setting sun. Martel ignited a two-run rally in the 4th with a hustling infield single and aggressive base running. The second game win is the fifth straight for the Chargers. In the opener, Powers jumped to a 12-0 lead after three and coasted to a 14-8 final. Santino Evely and Aidan Corcoran each rapped a pair of singles; Chase Newcomb drove in three; Nathan Gebhardt added two hits and five RBIs; and, Mateo Evan drilled three hits to knock in three runs. It was senior night as the Chargers took on Saginaw Heritage at Atwood Stadium on Monday night. Lexie Affrica got Powers started with three goals with only about 15 minutes ticking off the clock. Kendall Schaenzer and Keeley Nutter also scored in the first half making the halftime score 5-0. The seniors Lexie Affrica, Reese Gordley, Grace Murphy, Gabbie Peel, and Sara Snyder were all honored at halftime. In the second half goals were scored by Grace Murphy, Sara Snyder, and Kyla Nahs ending the game early with the score of 8-0.

But FIRST, we PRAY….The Powers Varsity team started SVL week at mass for “Moms, Mass, & Brunch”. It was a beautiful day! The girls received a special blessing from Fr Joe; reminding us of our faith, strength, and perseverance.On Monday, May 5th the Lady Chargers traveled to Lansing Catholic (2-6). Putting up 2 points for Powers: 1 Singles, Ellisen LaFay (6-3, 6-4) and 2 Singles, Kallie Lloyd-Jones (6-2, 6-4).On the 7th, PCAT tied with Regional opponents Clarkston Everest 4-4. Powers Catholic girls lacrosse team delivered a commanding performance against Davison on Thursday, May 8, securing a decisive 21-4 victory. The Chargers showcased a balanced and relentless offensive effort, with standout performances from senior Anna Evanoff, who had a total of 2 goals and 5 assists, junior Zandira Grossi with 8 total goals and 1 assist, Sophomore Ellie Brooks with 1 goal and 3 assists, Lauren Lavoie with 4 goals, and finally Freshman Claire Bobcean with her first varsity goal, these girls all contributed significantly to the scoring and ball movement. Anna’s dominance at the draw circle allowed the team to control possession throughout the game securing 19 total draws, while their efficient shot-to-goal ratio demonstrated accuracy and precision. Powers Rallies in the 7th to Take Williamson Tournament Crown After rolling over Montrose 12-2 in five innings in the first game of the Williamson Memorial Tournament at Brandon HS, the Chargers found themselves down 2-1 to the host team in the top of the seventh with two outs and nobody on base. Then, Donovan Marino patiently drew a walk. Next, pinch hitter Kael Morningstar did the same. During next hitter Drew Simmons’ at-bat, the Blackhawk pitcher balked, moving runners to second and third. With two strikes, Simmons eventually drilled a double just inside the left field line to send home the tying and go-ahead runs. Santino Evely shut down Brandon 1-2-3 in the bottom of the seventh to clinch the tourney title. Powers’ offense clicked in the first game with nine hits and six walks.
