It was a perfect evening for soccer as the Chargers varsity squad decisively shutout the Fenton Tigers. Early in the match, Junior Grant Roberts found the back of the net off a Powers corner kick concluding the first half scoring.
Second half scoring began with Senior Leo Stravato striking from the left and catching the inside of the right post to put the Chargers up 2-0. Stravato again scored mid-way through the second by finishing on a PK and ending Powers' scoring for the day.
The Charges defense was strong throughout the match, continually killing off Fenton’s offensive attack. Applying pressure late, the Tigers were awarded a PK off a defensive foul in the box. The Tigers were looking to put up a late score, but senior keeper Armando Lopez was up for the challenge and made an outstanding save to preserve the shutout!
Great effort boys! Next up Notre Dame Prep Monday, August 26th at Atwood Stadium.
