What a thrilling match last night! The #3 ranked Chargers showcased their skills and determination at historic Atwood Stadium, defeating the #1 ranked Yellow Jackets 1-0 in a tense battle.
Both teams began cautiously, focusing on possession and looking for openings, but neither could find the back of the net in the first half. The half remained tight throughout, with both defenses holding strong.
In the second half, the Chargers shifted gears, becoming more aggressive. Just 10 minutes in, Junior Logan Johnson made a brilliant run up the right flank and delivered a perfect cross to Senior Julian Damouni, who executed a stunning header, catching the DCC keeper off guard. What a goal!
The Yellow Jackets responded by ramping up their attack, but Senior Keeper Armando Lopez was on fire, making crucial saves to maintain the lead. The defensive line—Junior Grant Roberts, Sophomore Colin Johnson, Senior Tino Jameson, and Senior Koen Hernandez—was rock solid, ensuring a hard-fought victory.
A huge shoutout to the entire team for their max effort and teamwork! Next, the Chargers face Saginaw United at Saginaw Arts and Sciences Academy (Soccer Field) 3115 Mackinaw St. on Thursday, September 26th, at 6 PM. Let’s go, Chargers!
