The fall weather in Michigan has been perfect for playoff soccer, and the Powers Varsity Boys took advantage and captured the district championship yesterday with a decisive win over the Laingsburg Wolfpack. It was a true team effort, with every player contributing on the field.
The first half saw Powers dominate possession. Junior Regan Cameron opened the scoring with a high-arching shot just under the crossbar at the 15-minute mark. Five minutes later, he scored again with high banger from distance, making it 2-0. Senior Leo Stravato then added a fantastic goal, striking a strong waist-high pass out of mid-air. Stravato capped off the half with another goal.
The second half began with Junior Logan Johnson finding the back of the net and completing the day’s scoring at 5-0.
Next up is the regional opener Wednesday October 23rd at Atwood Stadium against Imlay City, with kickoff at 4:30 p.m. Come out and support our boys! Imlay City always brings a loud crowd, so we need as many fans as possible to cheer for our team. Go Chargers!
