The girls' JV volleyball team brought home the first place trophy from the Mt. Morris tournament this weekend. They went 3-1 in pool play, losing only to Goodrich. They blew through the rest of their pool thanks to Lauren Lavoie's killer serves.
The team faced the strong opponent, Oxford in the semifinal match taking it to play 3 sets. They dropped the first set and had to battle back to win the second. Down 17-21, Bella Jamison strung together 7 powerful serves to take the lead and in the end win the set. With several blocks by Elena Mindlin and Paige Gordley the girls set out to win the third set, keeping the lead the entire time
The finals brought Goodrich to the opposing side for the second time that day. The girls continued to play strong with several digs by Ellie Brooks. The kills from both the middle and outside gave the girls control of the game the entire two sets leading them to avenge that first lost and declare victory.
