PCHS Girls’ Varsity Basketball vs. Montrose High School

Tuesday November 29, 2022

The Powers Catholic Girls’ Varsity Basketball Team opened up their 2022-2023 campaign with a Senior-Night matchup with Montrose High School.  After the pre-game ceremonies that recognized 4-seniors in the class of 2023, the game was a competitive back and forth game until the final quarter where the Chargers (1-0) came out victorious 48-32.

“I am extremely proud of our seniors tonight!  This has been a cool thing that we’ve been able to do, more out of necessity in the past, to honor our seniors on the first home game and to come out victorious is awesome.  We absolutely love this group of players and know that they will do incredible things not just this season but in life.  It was a great way to kick off our year with a victory in their honor and celebrating them along the way!” - Coach Ryan Trevithick

Senior Alexcis Parker led the way in the scoring column with 21 points while fellow Senior Makenna Pobocik contributed 10.  The defense overall forced 37 turnovers led by Parker’s 5 steals.  The Chargers outshot the Rams at the charity stripe 34-1.  Coach Ryan believes this is a direct result of their discipline.

“Our girls really played a disciplined defensive game tonight, this showed up in the ability to keep them off the line and really pound the ball inside.  The score was closer due to our inability to finish from the line but we will get those early jitters out of our system early.  Proud of our execution to the game plan and that allowed us to take care of business tonight!” - Coach Ryan Trevithick
