PCHS Girls' Varsity Basketball vs. Port Huron

The Powers Catholic Chargers Varsity Girls’ Basketball team defended their home court against a physical Port Huron team 55-43 on Friday night.  The game showcased a physical back and forth style game with multiple runs be either team.  In the end it was the Chargers who came out on top.

“I’m so proud of the effort our kids played with tonight.  With limited preparation we had to come out and get our selves ready to go against a very physical and well coached team.  We showed resilience and fortitude and I am so happy to see the growth out of this team.  On a night where we struggled defensively, our seniors played a massive role in helping us secure the victory!” - Coach Ryan Trevithick

Those seniors coach spoke about in the scoring column were led by Alexcis Parker with 22 points and 13 rebounds and Makenna Pobocik with 11 points and 7 rebounds.  Junior Ali Anderson rounded out the double figures with 13 as a season high for her.  But it was a Senior not in the scoring column that coach alluded to.

“Sydney Patt played a vital role in our success tonight.  She didn’t play a ton of minutes but her minutes were crucial as we needed a spark and to settle in she did just that.  Couldn’t be prouder of her for this moment she really stepped up when her team needed her.  She was ready and delivered; that’s all you can ask for out of your team” - Coach Trevithick

The Chargers move to 4-0 on the year and will host the SVL opener on Tuesday December 13 against Midland Dow at Goggins Fieldhouse.  Tip off is set for 7:00pm.
