Powers Catholic girls’ varsity basketball team fell short on Tuesday to Midland Dow 64-57. The Chargers cut a 19 point lead by Dow to 3 with 3:00 left in the game but ultimately the game was put away by free throws by Midland Dow. Coach Ryan Trevithick had this to say about his young teams performance:
“Our kids battled and played hard, but credit to Midland Dow they made adjustments to our defense and kept us on our heels rather than in attack mode. They’re a really good passing team and that exposed us a bit with our discipline so we need to clean that up, but this group has shown us some really special things. They never quit and when they stay disciplined they are really fun group to watch play the game. We are finding our identity and as we begin to get some comfort with roles and expectations of those roles, I think we will be a dangerous team come end of the year. We aren’t there yet but we are close” - Coach Ryan Trevithick
Powers was led in scoring by senior Alexcis Parker with 24 points and 10 rebounds, and Makenna Pobocik adding a season high of 20 points.
Chargers lock in on exams this week and return to the court on December 27 to face Lansing Catholic Central in the Lansing Diocese Christmas Tournament. JV returns to action on December 20 @ Hartland in a make up game from a previously canceled game. That game tips at 4:00pm.
