Chargers push win streak to 7-games

The Powers Catholic Girls’ Varsity Basketball team pushed their winning streak to 7 with a road victory over the Chemics of Midland High School 51-47.  In a back and forth game that showed multiple lead changes and ties, the Chargers used a big fourth quarter to ensure victory leading by 10 late in the game.

“Tonight our kids were just resilient.  We stayed the course and never backed down and finished down the stretch when we needed to!  We have found a way to win these close games and it’s been a lot of fun to play in them.  Credit to Midland playing down two starters to play an incredible game with a ton of effort.  Made it hard on us all evening.”

Senior, Alexcis Parker led the Chargers with a monster double double 23 points and 15 rebounds while shooting 53% from the field!  Junior Ali Anderson added 9 points Senior Makenna Pobocik added 7 points and 4 assists.

“Alexcis was efficient this evening but they did a lot to limit her touches in dangerous spots, she really got going in the second half and she was clutch from the free throw line late.  This was a game that we needed big plays in spots to limit runs or to push the lead further and we got them multiple times throughout both defensively and offensively.  Danielle (Bobowski) and Ky (Bradow) were big defensively down the stretch for us.”

The Chargers push their record to 13-4 and 6-1 in SVL play putting them in a 3-way tie for 2nd place with a matchup with SVL foe Grand Blanc on the road Tuesday.  Tip off is scheduled for 7:00pm.
