Powers Catholic girls basketball saw their 10-game winning streak snapped vs Grand Blanc on Tuesday night 47-46 at Goggins Fieldhouse.
The game was within one possession the entire game until Grand Blanc took an 8-point lead with 1:40 left to go in the fourth quarter. Then the Chargers stormed back with multiple scoring possessions and forcing GB turnovers, Powers would score the last points of the game with 6-seconds left to fall 47-46.
“I’m proud of how hard we fought tonight, credit to Grand Blanc they came to play and had this game circled on their schedule for a while and showed up. Our girls competed to the very end we just ran out of time. An amazing environment to play in and I know we appreciate the support we had from our fans tonight it was a great game for girls basketball.” - Coach Trevithick
The Chargers (12-2, 5-1) were led in scoring by Senior Amaya Smith with 19 points and Sophomore Kendyl Smith with 18 points. Senior Grace Cameron was the leading rebounder for the Chargers with 7 on the evening.
Powers returns to the floor on Friday evening against Bay City Western (8-7,1-5) with the tip off coming at 7:00 preceded by the Freshmen at 4:00pm vs Oxford and JV at 5:30pm vs Western.
