The Chargers girls basketball team traveled to Midland Dow on Thursday night to play the host Midland Dow Chargers.  In a competitive match up Powers drops a close contest 66-54 to #10 Midland Dow.

Powers took an early lead and a halftime lead 33-30 after trailing 13-12 after the first quarter.  However, a 10-0 run by Midland Dow to start the second half proved too difficult to overcome.  Cutting the lead to 4 late in the 3rd was as close as the Chargers would get on as Midland Dow closed out the game despite losing the 4th quarter.

“I thought this experience tonight was an incredible way for us to prepare for the state tournament.  Coach Theisen does a great job of having his kids ready to play every night and this is exactly why the SVL gets us ready for the post season run.  Our kids battled tonight and just came up short in the 3rd quarter, their defense made it tough to get clean looks.  We’ll bounce back though and get ready for Lapeer and celebrate our seniors.”  - Coach Trevithick

Powers returns to action on Friday against Lapeer on senior night and “pink out” breast cancer awareness night.  JV tips off at 4:30 while Varsity tips at 6:00pm followed by the varsity boys at 7:30pm.
