On a night that had so much to be celebrated and honored the Powers Catholic girls basketball program hosted Lapeer in a SVL season finale matchup at Goggins Fieldhouse. The Chargers were honoring their six seniors along with those who are battling breast cancer and other forms of cancer with their annual “pink out” game.
The Chargers would lead from start to finish defeating the Lightning 58-16. The Chargers were led by a trio of scoring but the night belonged to the Seniors. Aerika Pertler, Grace Cameron, Kyleen Bradow, Brianna Krampe, Amaya Smith and Ali Anderson all played in front of a tremendous crowd and left the Goggins Fieldhouse Court one final time on a Friday night.
“Tonight was an incredible showing for our seniors. I’m so glad they got to experience this last Friday night feeling with their friends and families surrounding them with support. They have done so much for our program and helping establish a culture here that we can all be proud of. Each senior is unique and valued by our program and it showed tonight by the overwhelming support you saw tonight. In a side note to do it on a night where they chose to do it honoring something and someone bigger than themselves just speaks to their character as people. It’s never been about them but rather always how they can serve and I’m so incredibly proud to be their coach and to have known this unconditional love for others that they show.” - Coach Trevithick
The Chargers (17-3) play one final home game on Tuesday against Wixom St. Catherines. The Freshmen game is slotted for 4:00pm start against Swartz Creek and then JV at 5:30 with Varsity tipping off at 7:00pm.
