The Chargers fought to the last pitch of the day in 2-0, 6-5 losses to the undefeated, third-ranked team in Division 1. In fact, in the nightcap, the bases were loaded with two outs in the bottom of the seventh before the visiting Warriors escaped with victory on pop-fly to end the game.
Isaac Sturgess led with two hits in the opener. Grant Garman pitched well enough to win (4 hits, 6 strikeouts, 1 earned run). Sturgess struck out 11 BCW batters and allowed three earned runs in game two. From his center field position, Sturgess turned in an array of sparkling plays. Luke Dupuis and Garrett Wright chipped in a pair of hits apiece to lead the offense.
Powers returns to action on Saturday at 10:15 am in the Wood Bat Tourney against Fenton in Fenton. A noon start is anticipated for a second game opponent, probably versus Linden.
