Despite a lead-off homer by Issac Sturgess, Powers fell 5-4 to the host Cougars on Saturday. Sturgess later drilled a pair of doubles plating two runs. Xander Wolschleger smacked two doubles, and Gavin Darling added two hits. The non-league loss was the first in 2024 for the 7-1 Chargers.
The second contest was played as a scrimmage, ending with a 1-0 score in favor of Powers. It was highlighted by a combined no-hitter by pitchers Wolschleger, Darling, Santino Evely, and Michael Klein. Kaden Martel was the battery mate behind the plate.
SVL play resumes Monday as the Chargers host Midland in a doubleheader starting at 4pm.
