Powers Varsity Girls Tennis showed a lot of energy and passion today during their first match of the season against Regional match up, Imlay City.
Singles players displayed their grit and continued to push until the end of each match. Sophomore Kallie Lloyd-Jones battled through a 3 hours and 45 minute match of strength and mental toughness.
The Lady Chargers swept the doubles matches led by 4 Doubles, Seniors Marin Custack and Emilia Morse, with a quick 6-0,6-0 win. 2 Doubles, Lauren Start (12) and Loly Yapchai (10), along with 3 Doubles, Faith Mattar (11) and Marissa Villaire (11), dominated with 6-0, 6-1 wins. After overcoming a first set loss in a tiebreaker, 1 Doubles, Meredith Knight (12) and Maryssa Safford (11), found their resolve and mental toughness to take over the match in the final two sets.
The team will travel to Bay City and take on the Warriors today at 4pm and head north again to battle against Midland Dow, Thursday at 5pm.
