PCHS V. FOOTBALL FALLS TO SWAN VALLEY

The Powers Catholic varsity football team went on the road last Friday, October 11 and fell short to the Swan Valley Vikings, 56-35. Once again the offense was led by the desire and efforts of of Senior QB - Javontae Ross ( 231yards rushing - 3 tds | 101 yds passing | 102 return yards ), and the continuation of progress by the offensive line - Miles Sterling, Raheem Cheatom, Kaden Martel, Ben Skinner, Tyler Coffell, Alex Bissett, and Silas Babiasz - who paved the way for over 450 yards of total offense.. Defensively, the Chargers were led by Senior Safety - Jacob Davis, (11 tackles) and Senior DE - Sawyer Beauchamp (6 tackles, 1 sack, and 1 fumble recovery). Powers fell to 3 & 4 on the season and will return to action at Atwood Stadium for Senior Night this Friday, October 18th vs the Bay City John Glenn Bobcats. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00pm.

The Powers Catholic varsity football team earned a hard fought homecoming victory over the Alma Panthers, 42-35. The team was led offensively by the efforts of senior QB, Javontae Ross (7 rushes for 180 yards, 2td, and a kick return touchdown), senior FB, Blake Newcomb, (15 rushes for 96 yards, 2 tds) and the offensive line - Miles Sterling, Raheem Cheatom, Kaden Martel, Ben Skinner, Alex Bissett, and Silas Babiasz - who paved the way for 350 yards rushing. Defensively, the Chargers were led by senior DE, Sawyer Beauchamp (14 tackles, 1 sack, and 1 fumble recovery) and senior LB, Kaden Martel (8 tackles). WIth the victory the team is now 3 & 3 on the season and returns to action this Friday night, October 11, at Saginaw Swan Valley HS. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00pm
Chargers Slam door on Jaguars 56 – 8

The Powers Varsity football team opened their home football schedule on Friday night against the Flint Southwestern Jaguars. Scoring a convincing 56 – 8 victory.
For the second straight week the Chargers put up over 300 yards of offense led by Blake Newcomb, rushing 12 times for 179 yards.
Quarterback Javante Ross only put up two passes for the game but completed 2 of 2 (100%).
The Charger defense also contributed in the scoring on the night as senior defensive lineman Kaden Martel scooped up a fumble and ran it in for a touchdown. The defense was led by Joey Holifield who finished with a total of seven tackles (3 solo’s and 4 assists). Santino Evely, was a perfect 8 for 8 on extra points.
The Chargers next game will be this Friday at Atwood as they take on Freeland.
