PCAT VB Wins in First District Play

The varsity volleyball team started their playoff run last night with a 3 set win over Flint Southwestern.
Senior Lauren Start led the serving charge with 5 aces along with 14 assists. Making her varsity debut, and leading the offense, Freshmen Bella Jamison had 9 kills on 12 attempts with zero hitting errors. She also had 3 aces and charted perfect serve receive passing. Junior Madison Smith followed closely with 5 kills on 8 swings. Junior Ellie Spezia also added 3 kills on the night playing in just one set.
The Varsity Volleyball team is back in action in the district championship Friday evening at Lake Fenton HS.
DIG PINK results

The Powers volleyball program competing in the Dig Pink Spectacular at Davison HS. Varsity went 1-3 on Saturday beating Bay City Western 2-0, and dropping close matches to Davison, Fenton and Walled Lake Northern. Powers offense was led by Maryssa Safford contributing 17 kills, 2 aces and 9 digs. Madison Smith was a force in the middle adding 15 kills and 4 service aces. The defense was led by Ellie Spezia with 22 digs and Abby Jones with 16 digs.
The Powers varsity program is back in action Tuesday night against Grand Blanc.
PCHS Varsity Volleyball falls to BCW

The Volleyball program started the week off with a Monday night conference match at the Fieldhouse against Bay City Western.The energy in the gym was at an all time high for the start of the varsity match and the Powers VB team didn't let them down by winning the first set easily. BCW then rallied to take the second set in a similar fashion. The third set was a battle going point for point from 23-23 with the Lady Chargers pulling out a 26-24 win. BCW then took control in sets 4 and 5 to take the match. Powers was led by a strong performance from Junior Ellie Spezia with 15 kills and a .257 hitting percentage on the night. She also added 2 aces and 10 digs on the night. Senior Abby Jones had another strong performance in the libero role with 21 digs. Madison Smith and Elise Teahen were huge blocks for powers holding down the front row.
