BOWLING STATES

Our boys and girls Varsity Bowling team competed at states this weekend, the first time both teams have made it in the same year. The teams bowled against the other 15 top teams in Division 3 to have a chance at a state title. After bowling the qualifying round, the boys came up just short of advancing to the top 8, however our girls qualified 2nd and moved on to the top 8 to begin bracket play. The girls would finish in the top 4 in the state for division three, marking three straight final four appearances.
For singles we had Lillee-Anne Jacobs (S) and Elizabeth Teuber (S) for the girls and Michael Teuber (J) and John Teuber (S) for the boys competing for a singles state title. All our bowlers were competing against the other 55 bowlers there, to qualify in the top 16, to compete in brackets. After bowling six qualifying games, John qualified 16th and faced the number 1 seed, where he lost after a close 2 game set.
Elizabeth qualified number one overall, and Lillee-Anne qualified 12th. The two would bowl their way into the final four where they had to face each other to move onto the finals.Elizabeth won an very emotional match against her lifelong best friend and went on to finish as the runner up in Division 3.
We had an incredible season for our program that saw a lot of success. We look forward to next year and wish our graduating seniors all the best moving forward.
Bowling Regionals Recap

Last week on Thursday, February 22 and Friday, February 23 our varsity boys and girls bowling teams competed in both team and individual bowling regionals. We are happy to report back that for the first time in school history, both teams have qualified for the state tournament. Our boys team took first place overall and the girls qualified second. Along with both teams making states we are sending four individuals two from each team to compete in the singles portion of the state tournament. In a trifecta for their family, John, Michael and Elizabeth Teuber along with Lillee-Ann Jacobs will be representing our school at singles. Both Michael and Elizabeth qualified in the number one spot. Congratulations to both teams and the four going to singles. You’ve made our school proud. #GoChargers.
Powers Demolishes Regionals

Over the weekend both boys and girls varsity teams competed in the Division 3 Region 17 tournament to attempt to qualify for States. Only the top three teams can advance out of the field. and top 10 for the singles portion.
Up first were the Girls, who were comfortably in the top three all day, finishing in second and returning to the State tournament for the second year in a row!
For the Singles event, we had three of the top 10 girls advance to States. Out of a field of 86 girls, juniors, Elizabeth Teuber, Lillee-Ann Jacobs and senior, Libby Hagan not only finished in the top ten, but were in the top five! Elizabeth won the regional outright for the second year in a row, Lillee finished 3rd and Libby 5th. All three girls were in the top 5 through all 6 games, showing impressive fortitude and consistency.
The boys Fell just short in their competition, missing the cut by just 50 pins, but fought to the end and made themselves proud.
For singles We had junior, John Teuber and freshman, Alex Bissett finish 2nd and 7th respectively. Both boys remained in the top ten throughout the entire day and will look to capture the first boys singles title in school history.
Double win for Powers Bowling!

Both varsity teams faced off against the Midland Dow Chargers.
The girls came out strong winning and won 28-2 in a dominant win. The girls were led by Elizabeth Teuber's 220 and 185 games. ALso rolling well were Lillee-Ann Jacobs with a 190 and Maria Gavulic with a career high 171.
The boys also won putting up great scores and winning 23-7. Boys were led by a strong day from Michael Teuber' 200 and 226 games. Also bowling good games were Hudsen Mazurek with a 236 and 174, and Alex Bissett with a 193
Girls move to 4-1 on the season and the boys are 2-4.
PCHS VS. SAGINAW HERITAGE BOWLING

Last night both our Boys and Girls Varsity bowling team took on Saginaw Heritage at Grand Blanc Lanes.
The girls won in commanding fashion winning 26 of the 30 points. They were led by Elizabeth Teuber bowling a 201 and a 193 with strong games from Lillee-Ann Jacobs and her 199 and 158 and Lauren Harrold's 155.
The Boys also won a much tighter match that came down to the fian games. Falling behind 0-10 after the baker games, our boy team rallied in the individuals to claim a 19-11 victory. The boys were led by Michael Teuber shooting 210 and 217 along with Alex Bissett with a 207 and 192. Other impressive scores from the boys were John Teuber with a 192, and Hudsen Mazurek's 188 and 181.
The girls move to 3-1 on the season with a share of the lead in the conference while the boys secure their first win of the year at 1-3.
Flint Powers Girls Bowling State Ranked

Last winter the Flint Powers Girls Bowling team surprised everyone in the state of Michigan with a fourth place ranking at the State Division 3 Bowling Championships.
This year the Chargers are no longer a surprise to anyone in the bowling world in Michigan.
The Charger Girls Bowling program in three years has gone from a program that did not have enough girls to fill out a game match roster to receiving state recognition
The Chargers are currently ranked 3rd in the state in the Division 3 Pre – Season Bowling polls.
We wish Coach Matt Wheeler and the Powers Girls and Boys Bowling programs great success as they begin their seasons.
Varsity Bowling: Kickoff the Season Baker Eliminator Invitational

Powers Varsity Boys & Girls Bowling traveled to Lansing this past weekend to compete in The Kickoff the Season Baker Eliminator Invitational. Both teams moved on to the top 8 single elimination bracket play. The boys lost to a strong Kearsley team while getting two of their highest scores of the day. The girls swept Davison in the first round moving on to the final four where they lost to the tournament champion Mason. Powers varsity bowling had a great start to their season against a very talented pool of varsity teams, 22 boys teams & 17 girls teams competed. Congratulations to both teams!
