Powers Catholic Earns Gritty Road Win at Midland Dow, 55–38 Powers Catholic showed poise and toughness on the road Thursday night, earning a disciplined 55–38 victory over Midland Dow on January 8. In a physical, grind-it-out contest, the Chargers relied on rebounding, defense, and timely execution to pull away late and secure the road win. Powers set the tone early, jumping out to a 16–9 lead after the opening quarter by controlling the glass and defending without fouling. Midland Dow responded in the middle quarters, cutting into the margin and keeping the game within single digits heading into the fourth. With the pressure on, Powers delivered its best basketball of the night—outscoring Dow 14–2 in the final quarter to close the game with authority. Senior Paige Ringwelski powered the Chargers offensively, posting a game-high 21 points and an impressive 14 rebounds, finishing efficiently around the rim and converting from the free-throw line. Fellow senior Kendyl Smith filled the stat sheet with eight points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists, providing steady leadership and control at the point guard position. Bella Harley added nine points on 4-of-5 shooting, knocking down a key three and giving Powers a lift on both ends of the floor. Freshmen Presley Schriner stepped up in the fourth quarter connecting on 3 straight 3’s to extend the Charger lead and pushed Dow out of reach. Defense and rebounding defined the night for the Chargers. Powers held Midland Dow to just 25 percent shooting from the field and under 20 percent from three-point range, while winning the rebounding battle 46–24. The Chargers’ activity on the glass and commitment to team defense prevented second-chance opportunities and fueled key possessions down the stretch . “I thought we played resilient basketball tonight.
