Powers Catholic continued its strong conference run Friday night, earning a decisive team victory over Saginaw United and moving to 5–0 in SVL play and 10–1 overall. From the opening tip, Powers Catholic set the tone with energy, discipline, and togetherness on both ends of the floor. A fast, connected start built early separation, and the Chargers never let up, controlling the tempo and forcing Saginaw United into difficult possessions. Powers jumped out to a commanding first-quarter lead and used consistent defensive pressure and unselfish offense to maintain control throughout the night. What defined the win wasn’t any single performance, but the collective effort across the roster. Powers defended with purpose, rebounded as a unit, and shared the ball to create quality looks. The defense held Saginaw United to just 26 points, limiting clean shooting opportunities and turning defensive stops into offense. On the other end, Powers played with balance and patience, finding contributions up and down the lineup while staying true to its identity of trusting the pass and playing for one another. “I thought we played a complete game tonight and had a chance to get some experience for some of our depth players that they needed. Our girls are working hard right now and can’t wait to see the development over the next few weeks. Proud of our effort and challenged our girls with efficiency tonight and they did just that!” - Coach Trevithick The result was another complete performance that reflected the program’s growth and maturity as conference play continues. Each possession showed commitment to the standard, and each player who stepped on the floor made an impact in some way, whether through defense, rebounding, energy, or leadership. Powers Catholic will look to carry that momentum on the road next, traveling to Flushing High School on Tuesday for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff, as the Chargers aim to continue building momentum toward the heart of the season.
