Powers Splits Baseball Twin-bill The Varsity Chargers jumped to a 3-1 lead in the top of the 2nd at Lapeer, but the Lightning bolted ahead with three runs in the bottom of the frame and went on to a 6-3 win in SVL action. Eli Sturgess smashed three hits for Powers. Game two was decidedly different as the Chargers galloped to an 11-0 lead in the first. The onslaught continued as the nightcap mercifully ended after three innings by a 20-0 score. Landon Bohanon led the way with two hits and 5 RBIs; Drew Simmons and Sturgess drove in three; Michael Borg scored four times; and, Tom Begola chipped in a pair of hits. Simmons held Lapeer scoreless and hitless in his three-inning stint. Powers (3-1 in SVL, 5-3 overall) hosts the Lightning on Wednesday in the rubber game of the series starting 4pm.
