The track team hosted Davison and Saginaw United on Wednesday the 23rd at senior night. The 21 seniors were honors for their contributions to Powers Track. Grant Roberts was a 4 event winner taking the 100 and 200 meter dashes as well as anchoring the 400 and 800 meter relays. Roberts was joined in the 800 meter relay by Princeton Clack, Hudson Miller and Jayce Beauchamp. Their time of 1:30.19 is the 2nd best performance in school history. Roberts, Beauchamp and Miller were joined by Breckin Ciaclo in the 400 meter relay where they tied the school record. The team of Tyrone David, Steve Stein, Todd Staucher, Todd Lyght ran an identical time of 43.00 at the 1987 state meet. Todd Lyght went on to become an all american defensive back at Notre Dame and started at defensive back for the 2000 Super Bowl Champion Rams. Lyght played 12 years in the NFL and was a pro bowl player. Beauchamp was 2nd in the 100 and was followed by Hudson Miller in 3rd. Lennox Naswell picked up 1st in the 800 and Byrce Gross won the 1600 in his individual debut on the season. Princeton Clack won the long jump in his 2nd attempt at the event. His leap of 21’0 feet moves Clack up to a tie for 3rd all time. On the women’s side Michaela Wolosuk picked up 1st in the 100 meter dash. Evah Smith was a triple winner as she took the shot put and discus as well as joining Wolosuk, Fhallin Samuels, and Victoria Bouchey in the winning 800 meter relay. Ashlyn Roy picked up her 1st high school win as she won the long jump. Elle Doherty was first in the high jump. On Friday the 24th the track team traveled to North Branch for the annual county press invite. The meet started out on a high note but torrential storms put a halt to the action just after the 800 meter relay. Facing heavy rain, a significant delay and rapidly dropping temperatures the majority of the team headed home. Prior to the storm Grant Robert and Jayce Beauchamp went 1-2 in the 100 meter dash. Hudson Miller was 4th. The 800 meter relay team of Miller, Beauchamp, Princeton Clack and Breckin Ciaclo picked up first. Clack was the winner of the long jump with a distance of 20’5. Clack was unable to get in his final attempt because of the weather. Alex Iordanu picked up 6th in the 800. Caleb Carignan, Thomas Bieter and Griffin Solano went 1-2-3 in the 3200 and following the 3200 they combined with Iordanu to finish 6th in the 1600 meter relay. The 3200 meter relay team of Carignan, Bieter, Lennox Naswell and Bryce Gross picked up 1st. Tyler Wood was 5th in the high jump with a height of 5’11. Ben Bouchey tied for 1st in the pole vault. On the women’s side Elle Doherty was 4th in the high jump. Evah Smith was 6th in the discus The 3200 meter relay team of Lily Potochny, Maria Haj, Victoria Bouch and Mila Villarreal finished 3rd overall in a season best time of 10:25. The Chargers travel to Lapeer on Monday the 27th for a meet with Lapeer and Davison.
