he Powers Varsity Softball team battled their way to an exciting 4-3 victory over Detroit Country Day this afternoon, sealing the win with a thrilling final play at the plate. Holding a 4-2 lead in the final inning with two outs and runners on first and third, Country Day delivered a single to right field that scored one run while the trailing runner attempted to circle the bases and tie the game. Caleigh Byrne came up with a clutch play in right field, firing the ball in to Lexi Glady, who made a perfect relay throw to catcher Addison Schmit for the game-ending out at home plate. Offensively, Lexi Glady blasted her first home run of the season, while Gabby Moore contributed two singles to help power the Chargers to the win.
