The Powers Catholic Varsity Softball team split a tough doubleheader with Swartz Creek Dragons on Thursday night, taking Game 1 with a 4-0 victory before falling 11-4 in Game 2. Overall, it was another solid night for the Chargers as they continued to show growth both offensively and in the circle. In Game 1, Lexi Glady led the way offensively, going 2-for-4 with a double, while Addison Schmit also finished 2-for-4 with a double. Brynn Wolinski provided a big spark with her first home run of the season. Glady was dominant in the circle once again, tossing a complete-game shutout while allowing just three hits and striking out 15. In Game 2, the Chargers’ offense continued to battle. Glady and Schmit each went 2-for-4, with Glady blasting a three-run home run. Kate Costello had a strong night at the plate as well, finishing 2-for-3. Costello also gave the Chargers valuable innings in the circle, pitching her longest outing of the season with six innings of work while striking out six batters. The Chargers host Holly on Wednesday,May 27 at 4pm for the final doubleheader of the regular season.
