Chargers Shut Out Detroit Country Day ⚡️⚽️ Powers Catholic put together a complete team performance Tuesday night, defeating Detroit Country Day 1-0 in a hard-fought battle at Atwood Stadium. The Chargers controlled possession for much of the first half, patiently working the ball and dictating the pace of play. 14½ minutes into the game, Powers broke through. ⚽️ Matt Gingell found the back of the net to give the Chargers a 1-0 lead — an advantage they would carry into halftime. Detroit Country Day came out battling in the second half and began creating more opportunities, forcing Powers to adjust. The Chargers answered by digging in defensively. Powers shifted into a disciplined pressure-and-cover defensive approach, with the midfield and backline working together to close space, support one another, and keep Country Day from finding the equalizer. When the final whistle sounded, the first-half goal remained the difference. FINAL: Powers Catholic 1 Detroit Country Day 0 ⚽️ GOAL: @matt__gingell 🔒 CLEAN SHEET: Chargers’ defense It was the definition of a total team win — attackers creating opportunities, midfielders battling for control, and the defense holding strong when Country Day turned up the pressure.
