🏆 CHARGERS CROSS COUNTRY OPENS 2026 WITH A STATEMENT WIN! 🏆 The Powers Catholic Cross Country team kicked off its 2026 campaign in dominant fashion, bringing home first-place team trophies in both the Varsity and Junior Varsity divisions at the 21st Annual Michigan Catholic Invitational! 🔥 JV Boys Take the Top Spot The day started with a strong performance from the Junior Varsity boys, who captured the team championship. Johnny Boike led the Chargers with a 6th-place finish, followed closely by Miles Muxlow in 7th and Noah Tiong in 8th. Nolan Campbell (12th) and Nick York (13th) rounded out the scoring for Powers. Miles Rathsburg and Paul Follett added strong performances to round out the top seven, with Paul recording an impressive 1½-minute personal best! Tony Bonifazi and Alistair Stockley also earned medals. 🏃‍♂️ Varsity Boys Claim the Championship Lennox Naswell led the way for the Chargers, capturing the individual boys championship and helping Powers secure the Varsity team title. The key to the Chargers' victory was incredible team depth, with Ryan Rathsburg finishing 8th, Ben Bouchey 12th, Griffin Solano 20th and Alex Iordanou 21st. Charlie Penneau added a 31st-place finish, followed by Daniel Newman in 35th. 🏃‍♀️ Girls Show Plenty of Promise The Chargers' girls squad also turned in an outstanding effort. Junior Mila Villarreal paced Powers with a strong 13th-place finish. Jade McCormick, Sammy Randazzo and Riley Sovis all turned in outstanding performances in their first races of the season. Victoria Bouchey recorded a personal best, while Maria Haj finished just seconds off her personal best. Grace Hawley, Brinn McCarthy and Nizhoni Taliman also earned medals! ⚡ NEXT UP: CORUNNA EARLYBIRD INVITATIONAL With a pair of team championships to start the season, the Chargers will look to carry that momentum into their next meet at the Shiawassee County Fairgrounds for the Corunna Earlybird Invitational on Tuesday, September 1!
