Mount Pleasant (2-0-1) defeated Flint Powers Catholic (0-4-2) by a 5-3 score on September 1st, getting enough across the singles and top doubles courts to secure the dual-meet win. Flint Powers Catholic picked up three victories of its own, but Mount Pleasant answered with five of the eight matches to stay unbeaten early in the season. At No. 2 singles, Mount Pleasant’s Evan Clark (4-1) delivered one of the day’s biggest swings, rallying past Flint Powers Catholic’s Ace Akinpeloye (2-4) 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 after dropping the opening set. The top singles spot also went Mount Pleasant’s way, as David Aguirre handled Siddharth Srivastava 6-4, 6-1, while Roman Gehring added a 7-6, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles. Mount Pleasant also took No. 1 doubles, where Caleb Dise and Liam Hoyle held off Weston Landesman and Joseph Tian 7-5, 6-4. Flint Powers Catholic answered with straight-set wins from Charlie Morgan and Blake Bridges at No. 2 doubles, Benjamin Basey and Andrew Keys at No. 3 doubles, and Nathan Wood and Levi LaFave at No. 4 doubles, but the early singles edge was enough for Mount Pleasant to close out its second dual-meet victory of the season.
