Powers Catholic Rolls Past Bay City Central

September 2, 2026 SWARTZ CREEK, MI - Flint Powers Catholic (1-4-2) defeated Bay City Central (1-5-1) by a 6-2 score on September 2nd, leaning on a full sweep of the doubles matches to pull away in the Saginaw Valley League (SVL) match. Bay City Central got a pair of singles wins, but Flint Powers Catholic controlled the back half of the lineup and finished the afternoon strong. At No. 1 singles, Bay City Central’s Ryan Marciniak handed Siddharth Srivastava a 6-3, 6-0 loss to get the home side on the board. Jose Costilla then delivered one of the day’s tightest matches at No. 2 singles, outlasting Flint Powers Catholic’s Ace Akinpeloye 2-6, 6-4, 10-6 in a three-set battle. Flint Powers Catholic answered with wins at No. 3 singles and No. 4 singles, where Joseph Buerge picked up a walkover victory over default default. The doubles courts were all Flint Powers Catholic, highlighted by Weston Landesman / Joseph Tian at No. 1 doubles and Charlie Morgan / Blake Bridges at No. 2 doubles, both of which posted straight-set wins. Benjamin Basey / Andrew Keys and Nathan Wood / Levi LaFave added the other doubles points as Flint Powers Catholic improved despite an uneven start to the season.
