Powers 2 – Detroit Catholic Central 2 When the Chargers face Division 1 opponents, it’s always a test of grit and depth. Last night was no different, as our boys battled perennial powerhouse Detroit Catholic Central to a hard-fought 2–2 draw. The Chargers controlled play for the first 50 minutes, with senior Ravon Halel striking twice in the opening half to put Powers in command. For a while, it looked like the Chargers were cruising toward victory—until the Shamrocks made a dramatic shift with 30 minutes left, subbing in their full starting lineup who had yet to see the field. Fresh for battle, the change swung the momentum, and Detroit Catholic Central quickly capitalized, scoring once on a through ball and again with 18 minutes remaining. What had seemed like a comfortable lead turned into a tense battle. Despite the surge, the Chargers dug deep, defending with resolve and creating counters of their own. Both sides had late chances, but neither defense broke, sealing the 2–2 final. It was an unusual tactical gamble by the Shamrocks holding their starters for 50 minutes, but our boys stood tall once again in the face of adversity. The Chargers are right back at it tonight, traveling to Davison HS to take on Davison at 6:45 p.m. Go Chargers!
